3 stars PIKE 196 - 11 DAYS TIL HALLOWEEN: REFLECTION is the 95th album released by BUCKETHEAD in 2015 and the 21st installment in the countdown to HALLOWEEN. Yet another dark ambient spooky soundtrack that sees BUCKETHEAD performing all sounds. This one clocks in just 36 seconds over the 30 minute mark and has 7 tracks all titled "Reflection." All tracks seamlessly blend together to create one long ride through the darkened void that this album feels like.

This one starts out with a unnerving buzz saw alarm type of sound that sustains for awhile fades out and then bursts back in. It is one note at first but then becomes some kind of dissonant melody. Meanwhile there is a weird twang oscillating in the background. There is pretty much only one sound at a time that enters in a startling in-in-yer-face manner and then reverberates and fades out. It feels like it is all taking place in the vacuous infinity of outer space where it is cold, dark and my life is insignificant.

As this album progresses it really just sounds like a random space ride through the cosmos with strange noises hanging out for a while and then disappearing. No melodies really ever take root although there are a few noises now and again that simulate some proto- melody. This is more or less random noises designed to evoke the coldness and harshness of a detached void where the only emotional response i can conjure up is the feeling of being totally lost in a vacuous dimension where i will float around for eternity. Definitely spooky this one is perhaps not in a traditional HALLOWEEN way but definitely in an unnerving sense of dread sort of way.
