3 stars PIKE 204 - 3 DAYS TIL HALLOWEEN: CROW HEDGE is the 103rd album released by BUCKETHEAD in 2015 and the 29th album to be released for the countdown to HALLOWEEN. Another dark ambient spooky all instrumental album with BUCKETHEAD handling all the sound making duties. This PIKE has 4 tracks all titled 'Crow Hedge' and clocks in at 29:49 near the half hour mark. All the tracks blend together so it's basically one half hour haunting.

This one actually sounds like a good HALLOWEEN haunting. It has that kind of spooky house effect and this one is somewhat musical as opposed to being random weirdness that is designed to freak you out in a psychotic way. This one is definitely ambient as there is no percussion and it has a somewhat swinging spooky sound in the background while in the foreground different noises burst forth and out. Sounds a bit like when you open a grand piano and strum the strings by hand only amplified and reverberated. Some of the ambient noises sound ghostly.

The bassy reverberating percussive parts kind of develop into a rolling march type of feel while the higher sounds dancing around randomly. Overall the music starts off spooky and only continues to ratchet up the tension with the rhythmic pulsing of the bass sounds while the jittery treble just jumps out at you like an icky spider falling off the ceiling. This one is pretty good for a HALLOWEEN soundtrack but not varied enough to be excellent.
