Review by kenethlevine
SPECIAL COLLABORATOR Prog-Folk Team
2 stars I tend to be forgiving of budgetary limitations especially in the case of self produced Italian prog of the early 1990s. Part of this is not so much conciliatory as a matter of personal taste. But when the volume control needs to accompany around the room, err, that's kind of a problem, so much so that in ARCADELT's debut and, for a quarter century, sole album, I *** spoiler alert *** will be truncating my rating by more than a half star. Whole passages can barely be heard but then a shriek or two like in the dreadful "A Deceiving Melody's Dream" reminds me the singer isn't FISH as much as he tries, at least after I have recovered and stopped worrying about being investigated for murder right in this space. Think YES, STEP AHEAD and CLEPSYDRA for better references and blueprints vocally, with MARILLION and again CLEPSYDRA musically. Luckily, the first and last tracks offer rewards aplenty in the form of melodic diversions, while "Coriandres Dans Les Ciels" is an endearingly diffident piano solo. Enough to enjoy once in a while with a limiter/equalizer or whatever it's called these days.
