3 stars Michael Romeo is without doubt one of the most talentated, inspired and skillful guitarist in last almost 3 decades. I'm a big fan of his style both solo as on Symphony X. Before or actualy in same time with born of legends Symphony X, Michael Romeo released his first solo album under his name in 1994. After 24 years later the second album was anounced and released of course in summer of 2018 named War of the worlds Pt.1. Well, the truth is that to me this album is quite usual stuff, here it sounding like another 1000 guitarists out there, for his standards and skills this is quite almost mediocre. Ok the musicianship is top, the solos are good, but the ideas are only decent. The vocal parts aswell, while far from bad are only ok , Rick Castellano voice is only ok to me and nothing more. I do not like that this album not sounding like the debut Dark chapter, where are the neo classical stuff he usued to offer both on debut or on Symphony X best times, here is that heavy playing that in the end is quite mediocre to me. With indulgence 3 stars, I expected a lot diffrent album from him. And the art work is a total waste.
