4 stars Though it's difficult for me to want to serve up a review much less a rating for an album that is merely a solo rendering of songs previously published (45 years ago), I cannot help but fall into the trap set by this true master's vocal and simplified offerings of much-beloved music--no matter how old it is or how "perfect" they wer in their original published forms. It was actually heart-warming to learn that Serge was A) still alive and B) that he still had an affinity for/connection with the songs that he composed in his youth--and boy does he have a connection to them. Each and every song here is delivered in such a powerful, masterful, and beautiful form that I urge all fans of HARMONIUM, all fans of Prog Folk music, and all fans of virtuosic songwriting to give this album, these songs, this master your attention. Just to be in the same space as these songs, as this songwriter, as this amazing music and stories is a privilege--something you won't forget should you give them a chance. I only hope that you can find the time and will to do it. I would be surprised if you would regret it.
