3 stars An Estonian quartet KASCHALOT released their third creation entitled "Zenith" veiled in a fascinating sleeve (we might purchase this album for this sleeve, let me say). They say they consist of four musicians each of whom has different musical tastes or backgrounds from others but we can find the union of four personalities can create deeply powerful sound crystals. Cheerful and delightful melodic and rhythmic lines give us plenty of vigor in the last track "Distant Light" filled with brilliant atmosphere. On the other hand, "Beacons" has heavy, melancholic, shoegaze-y flavour in repetitive, persistent phrases, just like bitter chocolate with no sugar. Their heavy taste spreads exaggeratedly in our inner mind, not mouth. In "Mothership" we can enjoy crispy math-y texture and dreamy stream-y groove. Their rhythmic basis is complicated but easy for us to digest out. Such an up-tempo punkish structure excites us definitely. And the first "Supernova" launches all of their diverse essence in an extensive manner. Massive heaviness cannot squash but relieve us.  Wide ranging soundscape and dramatic development should satisfy our musical appetite. Definitely we can call the creation "20 minute energy".
