3 stars This is one of the most popular rock bands in Spain, in '79 they released their debut LP "Paseando Por La Mezquita" and anno 2005 MEDINA AZAHARA is still going strong after releasing morre than 20 albums! This DVD is a concert from May 21st 1994, the running time is 94 minutes and it contains 20 songs. If you compare this DVD to the 2-LP "En Vvo" (1990) most of the music is melodic rock with progressive tendencies, less symphonic but nonetheless the band plays powerful, enthousiastic and all songs sound very tasteful featuring strong and emotional vocals by Manuel Martinez (he looks like a Skandinavian Viking with his hugh body and blond hair), great guitarwork by Paco Ventura (from sensitive to fiery and biting), pleasant keyboards by guest musician Alfonso Ortega and a tight rhythm section by drummer Manuel Reyes and bass player Jose Miguel Fernandez. Highlights are the opener "El Lago" (a cover from Spanish legends TRIANA), the flamenco inspired songs "Paseando Por La Mezquita" and the beautiful ballad "Otono".
