SANJAM

With this single INDEXI continued a successful series of hits, building up a considerable following that would reach its peak during the Yugoslavian tour in 1972. These two songs are somewhat different from the previous ones. Both present an elegiac, sorrowful feeling and both feature Kovacevic on acoustic guitar. New keyboardist on this release was Vlado Pravdic, later member of the famous BIJELO DUGME, and his Hammond delivers a beautiful background sound. Still, "Sanjam" ("I Am Dreaming") contains a rather cheesy chorus with another excellent guitar solo (electric this time). "Balada" ("The Ballad") is on the other hand a true gem - an all acoustic guitar melody backs a wonderful Popovic's singing about eternity of love over a temporal nature of human life. There is a wonderful flute solo (an oddity, probably played by some studio musician) following the guitar and atmospheric percussions, notably cymbals. It is a timeless masterpeice of songwriting. Composing credits for both songs go to late Kovacevic and Redzic, while Maja Perfiljeva wrote lyrics.
