Protofonia biography
From the Brazillian capital of Brasilia, comes Protofonia. The trio was formed in 2007 by guitarist André Chayb, percussionist Janari Coelho, and bass player André Gurgel. The band embodies a true eclectic spirit with a broad spectrum of styles with each output ranging from gentle, ambient psychedelia to wildly experimental avantgarde jazz, to fuzz-toned classic rock sounds peppered with latin rhythms. Their works are primarily instrumental with the rare spoken word or vocal experimentation. The band is very active in Brazil's Federal District music scene and has performed at Sao Paolo's Totem Prog 2017 and Festival República Blues e Jazz among others. Aside for the bands original albums they have also composed original scores for an adaptation of Macunaíma, as well as Ax Orixá for the performing arts center of the University of Brasilia.
