4 stars Cinematic post metal, that might be a proper description. MOVEMENT OF STATIC are a relatively new band from Thessaloniki, a quartet comprised of two guitarists Paris and Dimitris, furthermore Fotis on bass as well as Kostas behind the drum kit. What immediately strikes, when looking at the album's track list, some songs are provided with rather unusual titles. Somewhat expressing a structural order, deriving from an astronomical point of view maybe. Just like a combination of notations and coordinates concerning planetary systems or galaxies. Or even microcosm the other way round, as the album title features a single-celled organism.

Well, it's time to check if there is a concept given behind 'Naegleria'. For what I understand it deals with a special journey which takes place in two parallel dimensions. This is dominated by philosophical, yet existentialist themes. Sorry, not my department really. Trying to set the scene, the album sleeve highlights six phrases which may relate to the particular main songs, even in that order. This tracks are alternating with well put ambient space interludes, those which I've already mentioned before. No matter what, the context, formed to a musical shape, convinces me in any case.

Besides the metal fundament there is a proper psychedelic vibe to state. Heavy riffs and soaring moments are merged together in a gorgeous manner, a powerful groove here, spheric excursions there. That's exactly what I like! And the opener Slowly We Are demonstrates how to place the synths at best, while in one case serving some spacey patterns and also supporting the rhythm branch. Except some speach samples no other voices are to detect, hence this can be labeled as instrumental by all means. Certainly a formidable statement coming in from Greece!

Thanks to bonnek for the artist addition. and to Quinino for the last updates
