Founded 2013 in Istanbul, Turkey

CEDITH is a four-mate formation initiated by Deniz Ünsal (drums) and Nazim Berke Fidan (guitar). They were members of a local metal band, which broke up after composing an entire album anyhow. During that time they came together once a while to make other songs for fun. Eventually, they ended up finishing them and decided to complete another album. At that point, Ermis Seichi Özkan (guitar) and Mert Dede (bass) were included into the line up. The debut 'Dawn Of Man' could be self-released in March 2019 then.

The songs are of a rather complex and entertaining nature. Although their music is influenced by some metal acts like Opeth, Lamb Of God and Sepultura there's a dominant heavy psychedelic texture given, paired with some significant ethnic imprints. While trying to improve the sound CEDITH is still searching for an additional keyboard player.

3 stars A promising newcomer band from Istanbul, the biggest city of Turkey, though not the capital by the way ... Deniz Ünsal (drums) and Nazim Berke Fidan (guitar) once have initiated CEDITH. You still can hear that both are having their roots in prog metal. Just take the dynamics and kicking bass drum in between for example. But they are also extensively drawing inspirations from the psychedelic department yet. Hence the result turns out to be an unique blend of styles, specifically garnered with some ethnic imprints. Hence not mainstream prog most definitely. There are some vocals, spoken words and chants available, though this is an instrumental affair predominantly. Second guitarist Ermis Seichi Özkan and Mert Dede (bass) are completing the quartet.

The opener Anksiyete Blues does not really work in that way the title may imply. Okay, rock music predominantly has its roots in the Blues. As for that this sounds like progression for sure, multi-varied, with shifting impressions, a colorful implementation. Definitely applicable to stick one to this album. And with that major premise in the back they are continuing the journey with another five songs. Kara Orman shines due to wonderful guitar and synth input, garnered with some mystic chant. I wished they were courageous concerning more vocals, would make the whole thing richer probably. We have to wait for the next album. Heavy, psychedelic, oriental touch - 'Dawn Of Man' is an entertaining album for sure. 3.5 stars.
