Teddybjörn Band biography
A Swedish combo TEDDYBJÖRN BAND, named after two founders Ted DLUZEWSKI (guitars, guitar synthesizers, bass) and Björn STENBERG (keyboards, saxophones, flute, voices), were one of obscure projects leaning towards avantgarde / rock in opposition-related styles and releasing only one eponymous album in 1980.

4 stars Another splendid obscurity. A mysterious album "Teddybjörn Band" released in 1980 was created by a Swedish musical commune TEDDYBJÖRN BAND (named after the two founders Ted and Björn, they say) has definite eccentric flavour in the same vein of Rock-In-Opposition-oriented / related combos especially like Samla Mammas Manna / Zamla Mammaz Manna.

Actually via their soundscape you could not get so weird structure as the "vanguards" but TEDDYBJÖRN BAND have done clear sound exposure addictive for so-called rebellious rock fans. Swift sound uppercut by the horn section, rhythmic funky voices, and oriental, tribal melodic texture should be acceptable for every RIO / Avant-progressive fan if not Asian one (like me). Ecke's accordion play sounds quite sentimental, and their basic melody lines themselves (not so complicated but somewhat mystic) can invade your brain so easily.

Sounds like the two frontmen Ted and Björn would have produced this artwork without any strong intention to follow the RIO stream (cannot know unless I ask them) because their sound construction filled with delightful melodic touches, percussive, rhythmic vibes, (a bit cheesy but) powerful native words, and crazy synthesizer discharge, is pretty simple but amazingly tricky ... exaggerated horn explosions, synthesizer-based spacey hints, sometimes female solemn voices in a mystic manner ... all would have come up via the musical commune, I guess.

Cannot imagine their sound substance via such a beautiful, noble oil painting sleeve. Let me say this album should be enjoyed by all progressive rock fans especially avantgarde, acid folk, ethnic rock followers.

Thanks to dAmOxT7942 for the artist addition.
