4 stars Short, but very very fine! 'Lunar Gardens' is the sophomore album offered by this band coming from Toronto, Canada. Entirely self-produced and recorded. POSSUM is consisting of guitarists Brandon Bak and Tobin Hopwood, as well as Patrick Lefler (bass) and Bradley Thibodeau (drums). Newly added to the fold was keyboarder Christopher Shannon. Where I'm inclined to maintain that this must have had a strong influence concerning the musical development of the band. For example there's a lot of Rhodes Piano in the mix, yet pushing the whole matter into a more Jazz respectively Canterbury direction. Regarding similiarities in sound I would name the band Diagonal, and this is also embracing some psychedelia pop feel, just in the vein of Tame Impala maybe.

In between you'll be guest on the moon, exclusively watching the dance of the eclipse. Homogenous, it's quasi forbidden to highlight any particular song. When they are arriving at the lunar gardens finally you will know that compositorial skills and musicianship are competing on a very high level. 4.5 stars. They are capturing the omnipresent cosmic energy and seemingly care for a new alignment of the astral flux. Since the album release in 2021 I frequently came back to this, always when longing for something that is radiating a particular positive mood, expressing serenity somehow, equipped with the greatest of ease. A wonderful effort!
