4 stars With their new effort 'L'Orée' the band puts out something very atmospheric, yet trippy psych and krautrock tinged music. But important to note, this is also incorporating some more genre distant styles like dub, trip hop aso. Overall electronics and samples are playing a really essential role here, compared to the more minimalistic predecessor album. Anyhow, summa sumarum a challenging and enjoyable matter, that counts in the end. Responsible is the band ASHINOA from Lyon, France, constituted around core members Chris Poincelot (guitar), Matteo Fabbri (bass, synth), and Jérémy Labarre (synth). Furthermore the regular drum duties are shared by Paul Renard and Lucien Chatin. Well, this indeed bears a very percussive behaviour, there's a lot of groove in here.

The intention is to offer rather short minmal tracks obviously, based on a differing attitude in each case. Particularly also equipped with a cinematic ambient atmosphere, let's say similar to the band Trees Speak. Thus they are offering twelve tracks, though solely with a total length of a concise vinyl production. The well-conceived starter Vermillion is evolving into a hypnotic doomy groove, later showing some nice flute attendance. Appealing neo krautrock flavour, for what it's worth. The short Space Cow comes with a strong melodramatic behaviour, where the superb Unknown To Myself showcases some tricky drumming. Selvatica and Bade BaidebSz on the other hand are supplying a pleasant dub infected intermezzo. Great album in its entirety, Fuzz Club Records are presenting another entertaining song collection without a doubt.
