Gaylord biography
Gaylord, the band, not the kid who was in your 3rd grade class, was born a little over 10 years ago (96'-97'). Core Atoms (guitar, keys, vocals) and Jeff "lewis" Steverson (bass, keys, vocals) teamed up with drummer Brann Dailor (Mastodon) to form this remarkable group. After Dailor relocated to Atlanta in 00' the band were able to recruit a fantastic replacement in Andrew Verstraete (formerly of Big Hair, Mungbean Demon, and Low Ton). What they've put together is quite the tasty treat for the ears.

The trio creates and performs a blend of music that will have your chin succumbing to an increased gravitational pull. General responses might be: "How the...?, What the...?, Holy...!, and, more please!". Their music has been described many different ways with the bottom line being a band that's difficult to classify. Their mix of funk, metal, jazz, psych, surf, reggae, etc. might just be best described as "Gaylord Music". The varied musical influences (see their myspace page) of the band leads to the aural pleasures one will get with the Gaylord experience.

With 3 releases, the first of which is apparently unavailable at the time of this bio being written (5/08/08), this band is richly deserving of an exponential increased level of success in the future. Gaylord is strongly recommened to those looking for a blend of music that will surely have your ears begging for more.
