3 stars Sigma Cero is a young band from Spain band formed in Valencia in 2005. The music they want to play and most of the time they succeded is prog metal in vein, of cours, of their heros Dream Theater. The first album they release so far is Buscado el vacio from 2007 and is nothing spectacular or groundbreaking , but has pleasent and enjoyble pieces not far from Dream Theater. On this album we have prog metal pieces from fast ones to more paced ones to even a slow piece to make the album sound balanced. The music is nothing spectacular, I've heared this aproach of prog metal hundred times before, but if you want to skip the point of originality of this album who is kinda the same with the rest of the bunch, I can trace here some good musicianship with some good pieces. The album is sung in spanish, that is not a bad thing, I've heared before bands who sounded better in their native language than in english but here we have a problem, the weakest point is the voice of Fernando, well not bad , better said unintristing voice without many highs, who at some point give to the listner a monotony of his range, anyway I've heared weaker voices than this Fernando. The pieces are well structured, well played but as I said nothing special, they don't try to be original, they only follow the path that's already been walked by hundred prog metal bands. From the list I can extract 4 pieces that worth at some point to be investigated, but only if you are towards prog metal, otherwise is a waste of time, the pieces are: Versus (Vertigo En El Suelo), Versus (Biopsia) and the last two pieces, the longest from here Pensamientos (De Una Mente Efimera) and Maldita Mi Voz , the rest are not bad but not something to talk about either. So, a 3 star album , a good one to listen from time to time, but not very often.
