Accent biography
ACCENT [not to be confused with Romanian boy band or Polish disco group Akcent, nor with 60s psych band The Accent] was formed in 1979 in Tulcea, Romania by folk musicians Nicolae SAVA and guitarist/singer Paul PRISADA who emphasized the poetry of the great Romanian writers as Ion Barbu, Miron Radu Paraschivescu, and Mircea Dinescu. ACCENT also featured the keys of Carol Nucu POPA, flautist Ionut STEFANESCU, and drummers Florin LEFTER & Mihai MORARU. The compositions are superb and heartfelt if comparitively low-key symphonic prog in the vein of CAMEL with influences from JETHRO TULL and early GENESIS. Playing live frequently, they recorded a joint album with fellow countrymen PRO MUSICA in 1986, 'Formatii rock 9', and their own 'Coincidente Premeditate' in 2007.

Refined and contemplative, ACCENT became a band relegated to the darkest recesses of prog history but their eloquent music deserves all the light it can get, and is firmly recommended to all Prog trainspotters.
