Giuseppe Ielasi biography
Free-jazz-folk guitarist and electro-acoustic searcher, Giuseppe Ielasi belongs to the community of prog-ish ambient artists of the recent generation. He published a vast catalogue of CDs in solo and in collaboration, mixing plastic-spacey soundscapes with minimal improvised melodies. The music evocates deep resonant-urban spaces and initiatic walks through natural environments. His two last albums published on the Swedish label Häpna are absolute must for fans of epically-spacious electronic installations.

3 stars A friend of mine commented me that Giuseppe Ielasi´s collaborative works were better than his "solo" ones and even had the courtesy of lending me this Giuseppe Ielasi & Kassel Jaeger: Parallel Grayscale (2013).

A two track, 36+- minutes total time, uninterrupted, post industrial electronic music, droning soundscapes album, which timing is used wisely as it compresses good ideas in a sequential short time, that even if not all of them truly unique nor original, it highlights the musical understanding both artists reach as a perfect communion of musical agreements and artistic goals.

Now! Does this work stands above other same styled works? It all depends of where you are standing as a listener and which works you are more comfortable with or at least know, or better yet enjoy.

There is where I silently depart.

1 stars Rhetorical Islands (2013) by Giuseppe Ielasi.

An unimaginative 10 track album which could have some kind of value as a "10 loop samplers" sampler CD and then maybe a DJ or somebody could actually make them come to life from their current cathatonic state, but it is not thought as such or copyright free.

There is something quiet evident in this Ielasi's work , it all sounds like a section (if lucky) of something. Like if you were only given a single track of a master of 32.

Anyway, boring falls short.

An empty void fills the room and by void, I talk about the artless marketing noise about a so-so detergent or the most expensive car. That horrible artificial empty sonic nonsense which prevails in the name of "cultural money" or intellectual identification and its correspoding mechanical poses for status or whatever the cultured people understand as art and it as a status fad. I.G.W.T.

Thanks to Philippe Blache for the artist addition.
