Seneca biography
A Boston-based band, SENECA describe themselves as progressive ambient. This couldn't be farther from the truth. Although there are certainly mellow strains mixed into their music, for the most part SENECA plays loud, fast and complex.

Comprised of David Cunningham on guitar, Brad Caetano on drums on keyboards, Jon Hassel on guitar and vocals, and Jon McMahan on bass (and, ominously, noise), SENECA's debut album, 2004's Existe, drew rave indie reviews as being a cross between THE MARS VOLTA and GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR. Occasional trips into electronica and laid back instrumentals provide the GBYE links, but it is certainly and almost always channeled with a deliberate attention to that noise I was talking about. Their latest project, the (as of this writing) unfinished album Oneiro will certainly please those who like their art rock with a noisy, indie edge.
