Dorena biography
Dorena is a swedish post rock band, formed in Gothenburg by 5 guys in the 2007.At the begining, when they started playing and rehearsing in the fall of 2007 they were playing some sort of screamo. But after Joakim left them,Kim took over the guitar ,leaving the bass behind.Simon was recruited as new bass player. Then they banished screamo and turned to post-rock.Their music follows standard quiet - loud - quiet structure, delivering epic soundscapes.Ambient passages can be traced. From beautiful piano moments, crescendos slowly building the atmosphere making the way for crushing distored guitar sound. They released one full length album so far, HOLOFON [2009] .Highly recommended for fans of EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY, GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR, SAXON SHORE, MONO.

Dorena Post Rock/Math rock

3 stars Debut album of this Swedish band contains usual Nordic post-rock. Beautiful slow/mid tempo instrumental compositions with acoustic strings and very airy atmosphere can attract Sigur Ros sound lovers. Not too dreamy or psychedelic, the band has some heavier rock elements in their music as well.

Music is as often minimalistic, but not too boring and good balanced. The band doesn't explore too much experimental side, but concentrates more on accessible ,but competent sound. With some electronic/ambient sounds influenced by Nordic nu.jazz included in their songs, this album covers a wider territory than just one more average post-rock band.

Good listening for Nordic post-rock fans.

Thanks to angelmk for the artist addition. and to burritounit for the last updates
