World of Silence biography
World of Silence is a progressive metal quintet from Karlstad, Sweden formed in early ?90?s around the excellent musician and composer Mathias Sandquist. They manage to release only two albums at Black Mark production, first release Widow of heaven in 1996 was almost unnoticed in prog metal zone and second and aswell their final release before disbanding in 2000 named Mindscapes from 1998 ? much better then the first and better appreciated by the public. In the band featuring 3 members from another Swedish metal band, more towards melodic death metal named Godgory, the keyboardist, the bass player and the guitar player . The music is towards Dream Theater, the more melodic side , with some more operatic parts coming from vocal department. The keyboards sound atmospheric and the arrangements are quite complex. The music should please every fan of Dream Theater, the more atmospheric side, Avalon (Germany), Scudiero or Elegy (Holland) among others.

5 stars FINALLY!Justice has been done, and thanks to Bogdan and UMUR,faithful and passionated PROG ARCHIVES reviewers WORD OF SILENCE are here!Of course,I admit ,I am very subjective when I speak about this album, but it's undoubtedly that WINDOW OF HEAVEN is a pure masterpiece and a forgotten prog metal jewel!I cannot forget the reaction I had when I got this album at his time...something like 2 weeks after it's release!I was simply KO..blown away...and I sayed..MAN!Tis is the iceberg that sink the TITANIC!!I was sure this album will take the prog community by storm and will make major waves in magezines, media, etc!I was so wrong!!!And even today, after so many years, each time when I made an audition of this milestone album,I have the same thrill, passion and positive feeling! That's the sign of quality and timeless value-not a single trace of dust on the quality of the songs and the album still sounds to modern and actual..and most of all ORIGINAL!! We cannot compare this album with anything else,it's savant combination of the best metal elements with the prog-modern ones, but without any possibility to say-well..it sounds like this or that!Absolutelly not! It's unclassifible! This album is like wine.the more he gets old,the better he become!First of all -as I said before-it's ORIGINAL under many aspects-structure of the songs-using of keyboards-presence of guitars-and the vocal parts are stellar!!It's extremelly powerful with many rhythm changes and various influences, making an interesting and atractive prog metal mix which will satisfy especially the prog metal fans!! The vocalist has an amazing range of expression, very technical and versatile-from subtile and passionated lyrical display-just hear the exotic song ENIGMA...and then the torrent of MIRROR OF CONTEPMT,DREAMWAVER,where he has a rage in his voice that takes everything by storm! The song title is a marvelous instrumental, very poetic and emotional, with solid, massive and powerful keyboard parts and a very precise musical theme which is introducing the uptempo song MIRROR OF CONTEMPT-maybee the best song of the album! The musicians are top, really impressive, the production is sensational- crysttal clear and each instrument is so well defined, the diversity of the song is 100 % catchy and when we think that WINDOW OF HEAVEN is a debute album-the shock is even bigger!!!The keyboard parts are very agressive-in DEREK SHERINIAN 's style sometimes and the giitar solos too!The drumming is exceptional-double pedal are used very clever in uptempo songs and overall-as I told bevore-an unbelieveble skilled vocalist-with a very likeble register, trully impressive and powerful! For me WINDOW OF HEAVEN is one of the most unfaithfully underrated prog metal album of all time,a true injustice and I wonder all the timeWHY?Maybee the label was untypical for prog metal bands like WORLD OF SILENCE-BLACK MARK PRODUCTION...maybee the press wasn't ready for such an original prog metal album.Honestly..I DON'T KNOW!But what I know is that WINDOW OF HEAVEN is 3 classes superior to the next one MINDSCAPES,which is not at all a bad album, but doesn't has the spark of genius that this album has! 5 STARS for an album that even now,14 years in 2010 after it's release is so actual and fresh, and deserves a wider recognition and admiration!

3 stars World of Silence is an unknown progressive metal band from Sweden who released only two albums in the '90's and then diseppeared into oblivion. This is their secong album and aswell the last one from their career named MIndscapes from 1998 released at Black Mark records. Here are 3 members from another swedish band Godgory, the keyboard player Thomas Heder, the bassist Fredric Danielsson and the guitarist Mikael Dahlqvist. The music is quite diffrent from Godgory who was something a la doom with death metal elements, World of Silence is a progressive metal band full of great keyboards arrangements and a good voice of Mathias Sandquist. While as a whole the album is good, doesn't captured me entirely, some good moments on Four seasons and Times to come, but the rest are nothing realy excellent, only good. Anyway this ia a good album that worth investigated if you like progressive music and specialy progressive metal, nothing realy overt the top but pleasent album. 3 stars, that means good, but far from being something essential.
Thanks to UMUR and b_olariu for the artist addition.
