Esagil biography
Greek band ESAGIL was formed in Lesvos by Theodoros Kotzabourounis (bass, vocals) and Michael Kostas (drums) in 1995. One year later the duo, who had started to work on thematic ideas for compositions, were joined by Bill Kouzinoglou (guitars) and Bill Chatzigiannis (guitars). During the next two years they started fleshing out ther songs to more complete efforts, and started gigging in their local scene, performing covers as well as their own songs.

In 1998 they hit the studio to record their material. The end result became the EP Reverse of Life, which was self-released in 1998. Kostas decided to leave the band shortly after. Two more somngs would be recorded by the band, with Stratis Altiparmakis and Chris Kountsouro filling in on one track each, and then Esagil disbanded in 2001.

Kotzabourounis, Kostas and Chatzigiannis revived the band in 2004, and recorded and released the single In Square Circles as a trio. At the end of the year the band disbanded again though, this time for good.
