Omnia picture
Omnia biography
Although OMNIA have actually just started their activity, this Argentinean outfit can easily be considered one of the most inventive, professional, and greatest bands on the contemporary progressive scene. Comparable to South American bands like APOCALYPSE, CAST or French ANGE, and with some strong influences of classic 70's progressive bands like GENESIS, OMNIA sounds like the best of that era mixed with dynamism, complexity and atmosphere of 90's and current trends in progressive-symphonic bands. All the band members are incredibly inventive musicians, and the parts of keyboards (string ensemble, piano, and organ) and both of electric and semi-acoustic guitars are here as tasteful and virtuosi as those of bass and drums.

Both their CD's are pleasure to even very demanding connoisseur and fan of progressive genre. Their second effort revolves around a conceptual theme focussed on the existence of an ordinary human being. The music herein contained develops distinct shades in accordance to the different phases during his life's journey. Their "Hormonal" is simply one of the best (if not the best) Symphonic Art-Rock albums released in the 2000s.

3 stars I just reviewed their third album, this is the debut-CD, a very promising one. The 8 songs sound varied, ranging from wonderful Spanish guitar runs with soaring keyboards and string with emotional vocals to mainstream progmetal (swirling organ and blistering electric guitar) and bombastic with flashy synth soli, Mellotron and orchestral keyboards. The vocals has an emotional undertone (is this the South-American answer to Christian Decamps?) and the music delivers at some moments a latin feel. FINE AND ALTERNATING 24-CARAT PROG!

3 stars This is a fine progrock album from Argentina, the country were our future king has found his lady. Many songs on this CD are instrumental and contain lots of shifting moods, wonderful keyboards (Banks-like organ, choir Mellotron, piano, strings, synths), some strong electric guitar soli and varied instrumentation. I'm pleased with the alternating, dynamic and elaborate compositions, delivering great, often expressive vocals. If you want to SEARCH FOR lesser known progrock, THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL DISCOVERY!
