Enns Tla biography
Ennis Tola are a progressive rock act with a world-music influence. Receiving praise from all over, their debut album Seed (Anon Islet Records) showcases lead singer Tomas Fitzgerald's versatile voice and the band's ability to bring forth a unique sound, drawing its textures from unusual instrumentation such as Bass Clarinet and Japanese Koto.
Throughout 2010, Enns Tla have made steady progress after the release of Seed, with stellar reviews from France, UK, USA, Italy, Brazil and Canada.

Currently, the band is working on their second studio album. While a portion of Ennis Tola's second album has been recorded at Abbey Road in London, the majority of this next release is being recorded at Anon Islet Studios, engineered by Tomas Fitzgerald. The final mixing and ultimate polishing will be in the very capable hands of Daniel Rejmer, who has worked with a swathe of notables including Paul Kelly, Foals, Mystery Jets, Bjrk and The Kills.

On April 16, Ennis Tola launched their single release from their forthcoming second album, Backbone.

Review by desistindo

2 stars I would describe this album as a mixture of arabic pop music with Tool. In other words: not a very enjoyable sound. The "world music" approach is merely a reference to arabic/oriental rhythms and moods that are, most of the time, cliche. In order to add some "style", the band tries to mix heavy riffs with that atmosphere, making it incredible cheesy. That combination of oriental elements with modern slash guitars make it seems almost like a "Prince of Persia" soundtrack.

The good point: the arrangements. Karen Heath, who plays the wind instruments, can guive it some nice background melodies but, again, the contrast with the guitars are, for me, indigestible.

Thanks to chris s for the artist addition.
