Treeburning biography
TREEBURNING is progressive metal band from Calgary, Canada on a self-proclaimed mission "To constantly surprise and excite the senses, to lead in songwriting never relying on breakdowns and or clichés, to be the scene instead of crying for acceptance". With this thought in mind, TREEBURNING have been trying to create a new mentality in an overcrowded sea of technical metal music by employing a variety of unusual instruments arrangements, everything from guitars and pianos to 12 string pedal steel and violins.

The band has so far released two albums called "After The Fall" and "Holus-Bolus", followed by the 2011 three track EP titled "This Is What Happens When Nothing Else Can". With the release of "Holus-Bolus" the band continues their set goal of constantly keeping their audience on the edge of their seats and clearly show that they're a band on the aforementioned mission.

Another interesting fact about the collective is that they clearly realize that it takes much more than writing/releasing music and playing live show in order to be considered a band nowadays. This is why they employ a D.I.Y. mentality about all their work which also includes production of their music videos, album releases, tour management, promos, and much more. Recommended for fans of technical prog metal.

— First review of this album —
2 stars A hell of a racket.

Treeburning from Canada is trying to add a new dimension to the music scene, the PA profile bio says. Maybe that's the case.

This is a nine minutes long EP and I believe it is a free download EP too. The music is somewhere between what we in the good old days called hard core, power pop, pop corn and avant garde metal. The basis is beefed up power pop with added hard core and grindcore elements. The guitars are a bit off kilter most of the times. I guess this is what goes for skate core these days.

The music is not that bad and I may be tempted to give one of their albums a spin or two. But I have to admit I am too old for this racket. This EP has missed me by at least one generation. So I will give it two and a half stars. But check it out anyway if skate boards is your passion.

2.5 stars
