Hades biography
HADES was a Norwegian heavy prog band founded in Vestfold in 1970. The band, which was founded by guitarists/vocalists Thomas KARLSON, Karl ØYRI, flutist Fredrik MØYSTAD, bassist Terje BRENDSRØD, and drummer Per ERIKSON, is often described as the synthesis of JETHRO TULL and CREAM, combining bluesy riffs with overdrive guitar with folk elements accentuated by flute. The band recorded only one live album in 1974 before disappearing. However, the self-titled album was not released until it was found by Colours Records in 1992.

The band will appeal to fans of classic heavy prog such as URIAH HEEP and ATOMIC ROOSTER as well as folk prog bands such as JETHRO TULL and other folk bands that mix hard rock into their sound.

4 stars Flute freaks unite!

Nice album from this unknown band... that only recorded this material... life... man's, that weird. Well, okay. Few tracks in its few time (23min long), with nice hard rock vocals (similar to me as November and Høst), with great competence in guitar and drums. Really gret energy and rythm of the whole group. But what really get you is the flute. Sometimes in trance, sometimes in full improvisation. Wheter joining the other intruments, wheter playing a role appart from the rest of the music, its good and always present. Its THAT good album for flute players to listen when needing to practice.

I know I have.

Thanks to andy webb for the artist addition.
