Lito Vitale biography
H�ctor Facundo Vitale - Born December 1, 1961 (Buenos Aires, Argentina)

Lito VITALE is an Argentine musician, composer and arranger. When he was 13 years old he co-founded MIA, which became popular within progressive rock audiences in the late 1970s.

By the eighties he started his solo career with Sobre miedos, creencias y supersticiones in 1980, included of collaborations of Manuel MIRANDA in saxophone, Marcelo TORRES in bass and Jota MORELLI in drums. An album in which he achieved a mix of GENESIS,YES, New Wave and Argentine folk music.He then continued through several formations as a trio, quartet, quintet and duo in the present.

In the 1990s, Vitale recorded several tango standards with Juan Carlos BAGLIETTO, and was awarded a Latin Grammy for their collaboration in 2000. Also during those years, Vitale recorded a more jazz-like project with Lucho GONZALEZ and flute player Rub�n IZARRUALDE. This formation performed in the 1998 Montreaux Jazz Festival.

An 18 year old Lito Vitale composed ABOUT FEARS, BELIEFS AND SUPERSTITIONS, released on 1980, an incredible demonstration of moog and synthesizers possibilities. It's entirely instrumental. There are some quite inspired interplays between piano and synths, like on the first and third tracks.

The way he begins and ends the songs generally is very exquisite.

Thumbs up for the mysterious mood on the majority of the work.

Nice and enveloping vocal harmonies are present on all of the tracks, with the exce�ption of the first. That's feature that I found on other albums (the few I heard, they are jazz stuff) from him.

I'll give 5 stars for the creativity of track 2, a scary symphony of vocals, and only vocals. The title of this track is "Iluminating the Souls"; and the same rating goes for the sensibility of the last effort, "God, the end". This one is between symphonic prog and electronic prog - a perfect end both musically and conceptually.

The drums and bass are not so technical and brilliant, and the few participations of the guitar is almost always reduced to a complement for the synth. But these limitations are widely compensated by the other atributes I described above.

For me, this equation results in a 4 stars.
