Joop WOLTERS is a Dutch guitarist and songwriter. He was born on the 8th of June 1971 in Middelburg, Netherlands. In 1994 he started his professional music career in the prog/fusion metal band ARABESQUE who released their instrumental debut album ''Beyond The Veil'' (Shark Records). In 2000 begins his partnership with publisher Lion Music. Two years later ARABESQUE would release the second studio album ''The Union'' on the label Lion Music. Joop WOLTERS collaborated also on tribute albums of Lion Music, which was dedicated to the guitarists like Uli Jon ROTH, Gary MOORE, Ritchie BLACKMORE, Jimi HENDRIX and Shawn LANE.

He started a solo career with the album ''Workshop'' in 2003 (Lion Music). This was followed by the next two albums ''Speed, Traffic & Guitar Accidents'' (2004, Lion Music) and the critically well received ''Out Of Order'' (2007 Lion Music). In 2008 he joined prog-metal project SHADRANE with a couple of very good musicians and released studio album ''Temporal'' (2008, Lion Music). Wolters was also guest guitarist on album ''Oniric Metal'' of French prog-metal keyboardist LALU. Joop WOLTERS is a technically varied guitar player with a nice melodic feeling. His music is focused mainly on progressive metal with emphasis on fusion.

4 stars Joop Wolter's latest album to date is from 2011 and is named False poetry. Well, this album kick ass big time, by far his best work and one of the best instrumental prog metal/jazz fsuion album I've ever heared in last years. Here he manage to incorporate a blend of speedy shredding guitar passages with jazz fusion elements, the result is impressive. Besides his solo career Joop was part of prog metal band Arabesque, he has colaborations with Vivien Lalu on his first solo album and with Shadrane, on each project he did a marvelous work. Here on False poetry I can say easy that is his the best work he ever done so far. The passages are so well played and with such tight musicicnship that is hard for me not to praise this release. Just listen to the opening track Sponge, the guitar chops are quite top notch, what a piece, a prog metal feast with jazz fusion elements thrown in. Another highlight are for sure Ozric Dream, a very comlicated prog fusion piece with all the ingredients to be among the best in this realm and finaly but not least Universal Doubt, that show how versatile is Joop Wolters on guitar. Overall , this is pure delight to my ears, complex, but yet melodic, full of prog arrangements and jazz fusion delights. 4.5 stars to me a fine top notch album. recommended one of the best of the genre.

3 stars oop Wolters is one of the most talented guitarist I've ever heared, his skills are quite impressive and always delighted my ears, mo matter in what band he played over the years or on his solo albums. Out of order released in 2007 is a fairly good album with lot to offer, with diffrent influences and diffrent styles in aproach, from flamenco guitar chops as on Harmonic Spheres, to prog metal arrangements as on Divide And Conquer, Wolters manage to come with a good and yet unnoticed guitar oriented album. The peak of his solo career will be with his next album False poetry who is absolutly total blast. For Out of order 3.5 stars, good with some very fine moments.
