4 stars 3.75: The fourth album by pink floyd, was a two sides album, including in the first part a live session and the second one, a composition by every of the band members. The first part only have one new song, being careful with that axe, a classic space rock song from Floyd. I really liked the first side, the versions shown are in general better that the one in studio, one of them featuring Syd Barret song, Saucerful of Secret stands out being the most improved version in the album, I really like it more. The second part as I said includes personal compositions. the first one is from Richard Wright is really just some improvisations and ambient music, only being the fourth, the one that i liked. Then Roger waters presented 2 songs, the first one an acoustic one talking about a place in Cambridge and the second one with largest tittle, I think, by pink floyd, is like an avant-garde song made with different sounds, mostly made by his voice , both songs I liked, but it is not something memorable. The last part by Mason really surprised me, It has a nice introduction by his wife using a flute and then hypnotic drum rhythms follows, I really liked. In conclusion, it was a great album, however different from all the others, the experimentation continues, the first side is the live one including a new song Careful with that axe, all songs were great performed. the second side includes personal compositions, some parts of wrights are really great but is really inconsistent, Waters follows with two great songs, Gilmour made, I think the most consisted composition of the album, I really loved how it is changing with every part, and at the end, Mason gives a great composition also being consistent, I really liked too. It is a great album, it has some avant-garde, acoustic, rock and ambient moments that make it really nice to hear and perhaps making great to hear something different by the pink floyd style.
