1 stars Echomachine is more Phrozenlight-brand ambient in extremely long form. This album is more uneventful, airy, windy, slightly resonant ambient that does not progress and does nothing to engage the listener in a unique listening experience. The ambient drones on this album are the same as the other Phrozenlight albums that I've been unsatisfied with in the past - the atmosphere created is like being in either a washing machine or a microwave in space. Echomachine is less cosmic and more purgatorial than I'd hope from progressive electronic. The album directly preceding this one showed promise in Phrozenlight's development, and this album is a definite regression. Fortunately, this is still an early release (from late 2006), which gives Phrozenlight plenty of time to mature as an artist in the progressive electronic field in creating wonderful spacey atmosphere with which the listener and music can become one.
