5 stars Driftin' Between Starsystems is a definite highlight from Phrozenlight. Though it may be long (a bit over 75 minutes), "Driftin'" is an entirely progressive electronic voyage that recalls some of Klaus Schulze's early works like "Irrlicht" and "Cyborg". Here we have the standard electronic drones, metallic resonances, spacey sound effects, and airy/windy atmosphere, but also something that sounds like harsh electronic bagpipes and a near-symphonic dirge at the end. The symphonic portion of this track plays its part perfectly, adding almost a victorious and ethereal ending to the harsh experimental electronic voyage that the previous 44 minutes consisted of. Something that has always bothered me about some of Phrozenlight's output is the lack of progression throughout his long tracks, which made them seem obnoxiously long, but on "Driftin'" this problem is solved completely. Highly recommended progressive electronic in the best form.
