Yet another review of 'Dark Side of the Moon'? . Whatever can be said about this
seminal work of progressive rock has already been said.
The best way to describe what the FLOYD accomplish here is: 15 years. For 15 years this album was continuously on the Billboard charts, that has to tell you something! Commercial success in terms of units sold is NOT indicative of quality. Case in point: (insert modern pop artist here). Longevity is what is important, and in these terms 'Dark Side' is eternal. This album probably has a lot to do with you being on this site in the first place. Whether because you grew up listening to it, or maybe your parents did, or because it influenced not one, but more like two subsequent generations of musicians to come. 'Dark Side of the Moon' transcends musical genres, defies labelling, and is the best starting point for any lover of music to begin his/her collection. This is where prog really crossed over into the mainstream. In a word: revolutionary.
