After the excellent Songs Of Darkness album from 2004, My Dying Bride returned in 2006 with this album. And with an album which is pretty close to being a turkey.

At best, My Dying Bride is an excellent band. Their sound is normally very good and this band can really deliver a sonic punch straight to the listener's solar plexus. And everything is right on this album. The sound, the thundering bass and guitars, the vocals and the sound effects. Everything is good.

My main gripe here is the lack of any good songs. They have even included a turkey here in the form of Deeper Down. This is an attempt of going commercial and it was off course released as a single. It is a horrible song which does not suits this band or this album at all. The rest is pretty half decent material. It is not even doom metal. It is a collection of rock songs with My Dying Bride's sound. Most songs are both rudderless and pointless. Everything here is bland, boring throwaway music.

In short; there is nothing here on this album 'but the sound. And that is not good enough for me. A big let down it is, A Line of Deathless Kings.
