2 stars This is about as un-floyd as the band gets. By this I mean this sounds nothing like any of the floyd periods ( Barret, "REAL FLOYD", Post-Waters). Considering they had one weeks time they did OK, for such a rushed schedule. But the songs are mostly bad. It sounds a bit like Saucerful of Secrets, and my feelings on that album were mixed, so once again I don't really enjoy this album. The film itself was apparently boring and badly acted, though the director is sometimes seen as quite a good one. This is sort of like the music- not as good as Floyd usually is, not as good as Schroeder could be.

Cirrus Minor: Birds quietly chirping changes to somber acoustic guitar and Barret- ish vocals, and then dissipates into plain-sounding organ. "Cirrus Minor" is apparently a term Roger used to describe a drug occurrence- and at one point the organ has a weird sound effect overlapping it, which may be there to give the song a dreamlike/ drug-induced feel. This song is fairly pointless and boring.

The Nile Song: The guitar sounds a bit like Neil Young, though not as good as Young, who is one of my favourite guitarists. The yelling vocals and crunchy guitar are annoying. This is about as hard as Floyd ever got, and also about as bad as they got too! The only decent thing about it is the drumming.

The Crying Song: Picking up the solemn feel of the first song, this song is also pretty useless. At least Gilmour's voice sounds normal. The lyrics are rather odd (We smile, we smile/ we cry, we cry/ we roll, we roll ?!?!) It's basically acoustic guitar, decent vocals and very soft, unvarying drumming.

Up the Khyber: This one is great! Rather Saucerful-ish (the track, not the whole album), but better. Cool drum beat and random piano, sort of jazzy. It's short, but that suits it. At the end there is a cool reverse effect.

Green is the Color: This one is a good track. Acoustic guitar, some bass in there, and piano come together for a good jam. The Gilmour vocals are very soft (sort of like in the Fat Old Sun). One fellow already said the recorder doesn't really fit in well, I agree with him there.

Cymbaline: Similar to the last one, but with bongos and stronger vocals. I like this one even better than the last one. In fact it sounds like REAL FLOYD! Yay! Why they have Dr. Strange in the lyrics I don't know. sort of corny. Then Dave does some Harmonium-ish singing (no lyrics, just badda-bap-ing, the singer Harmonium does that often). The piano and organ finish it off.

Party Sequence: Ok what the hell is this! The bongos are Ok, but in that flute comes... damn that flute. This song holds the record for shortest Floyd track ever!

Main Theme: Why not pick a better track for the main theme. this is boring.Starts out with wind, atmospheric sound effects, and some form of keyboards. Then the bass line is exactly like "Let there be more Light" only slower. It's just bass, drumming and those sound effects for a while, and finally some quiet electric guitar in there too. This goes on way too long and is shitty.

Ibiza Bar: Practically a copy of the Nile Song, that's all you need to know.

More Blues: Bluesy guitar and cool drumming that drifts in and out. Great jamming.

Quick Silver: Freaky sound effects start it off. and they go on and on and on.some faint keyboards in there too. Even worse than A Saucerful of Secrets (again, the track). Goes on far too long!!! 7 minutes of atmospheric sound effects. SHIT!

A Spanish Piece: You guessed it, Spanish sounding guitar, Spanish sounding bass. And a really funny little voice saying God Knows What.

Dramatic Theme: Again with the "Let there be more Light" bass. Get over it Roger! And whining guitar in there too. decent drumming. A short guitar solo to finish it.

Let's face it this is a bad album.4-5 good tracks in there, but they are overshadowed by SHIT. Not woth your time or money, certainly not worth mine. And I'm a hardcore Floyd fan! What does that tell you? To stay away from this one.
