4 stars I've lost count on all releases made by US artist Jeremy, but guess he's approaching 50 in total now. Pop Explosion is one of several albums issued in 2008; and as the name implies pop music is the core of this creation.

Whenever you listen to music made by Jeremy, there's always a certain Beatlesesque tinge to it, especially in his ventures in rock and pop music. Apart from the obvious musical influence, the vocal delivery of Jeremy makes one think of Liverpool's greatest too - not so much the voice itself, but rather intonation and pronouncation.

On an album filled to the brim with vocal-dominated tunes, where the instruments often have a secondary role, this aspect is even more highlighted than usual. Add in basic, often simplistic themes strong on melody and with a light, uplifting and highly 60's tinged atmosphere to them the Lennon and McCartney associations are even more strengthened. Some compositions remind more of other acts from yesteryear though - The Who in particular - but the central aspect on this release is the musical influence from The Beatles. When that is said, Jeremy is a skilled writer and performer - and he doesn't replicate his influences, despite the similarities.

Overall this is a release best suited for people into the sound of British pop and rock of the late 60's, especially if they like the slight psychedelic edge to the songs Jeremy provides.
