4 stars After the good, but also a little disapointing Fear, came The Mission. Well, after Paradox, this is my favorite Royal Hunt album. The group again picks up their metal and prog influences and makes a concept album, this time based on Ray Bradbury's The Mars Chronicles. And they did a very good job.

Ok, the album may not be as varied and inspired as Paradox, but so far none did and I really wonder if they ever be able to write a new masterpiece like that again. But that's unfair, since it is asking too much and the fact that the band never really did a bad album puts them above most competitors.

The Mission may suffers the need for longer songs for the musicicans to shine, but the tunes are great and John West soars through the album. They continued to be plaged by changes of drummers. Here old time friend and ex original member Kenneth Olsen (along with Kim Johanneson) comes back. Inevitably Maria McTuck and Kenny Lubcke are helping Royal Hunt with their trademark backing vocals.

A very good album, if you're into prog metal with a melodic side I recommend it.

3 stars I've been following RH from a long time ago, and this cd it's maybe the lower of their career. That doesn't mean that it's bad. It is the worst of the best, something like that. I have have to say that John West is one of the best singer ever. This record got a very cool songs like WORLD WIDE WA ... (read more)

4 stars Definately 4 star rating, I can't believe it has gone unrated. This is my first album from RH and I was very impressed. Definately in the market for some more RH next time I am down in London. This album is a continuous wall of sound with short tracks woven between longer main tracks. Good job ... (read more)
