PROG REVIEWER
3 stars Vougan is a prog metal band from Brazil with one album since now released in 2007 and named Mind exceeding. At first listen I was struck by the powerful voice of Izack Salvatierra and by the rough arrangements not far far from traditional power metal bands. They are more towards power metal but also combined in places elements from progressive metal aswell, that gives to the album a more complexity then usual power metal albums. Ok , the music is not grounbreaking or excellent, but most of the time pleasent. Nothing original, but played good with nice moods for ex:Ghosts and the parts of title track Mind Exceeding are above the rest of the pieces from this album, the last parts of the album II, III and IV of title track is instrumental and is the best track from here. So in comparation with other band from this subgenre , this brazilian brings nothing new or brilliant, is even weaker than other band from this country, but as whole they are ok. 3 star I think is fair for this album, nothing more nothing less.
