Review by Matti
2 stars (First review.) This debut single of VdGG is musically poor, to be honest. It doesn't really show the glorious unique path the band would take already in 1969. Both tracks are available as bonuses on Aeorosol Grey Machine CD, and even on that album (which is far from the level of the next ones!) they are among the poorest tracks. But on the other hand, they sounded like no one else right from the beginning. In that sense this single is noteworthy. But wasn't it already 1968 as I thought?

Straight-forward, slightly psychedelic but rather simple fast-tempo song 'People You Were Going To' was later re-recorded for Hammill's punk-ish 1975 album Nadir's Big Chance. BTW, I'm not very fond of that album either, but there the song works quite nicely.

'Firebrand' is... hmm, interesting, to put it friendly. Vocals on the chorus - I suppose they are by Chris Judge Smith - are utterly terrible. The song itself is not very succesful on other aspects either, but at least it has some kind of a curiosity value.
