3 stars Two early albums

A double album which simply combines the first two official releases (i.e. excluding their work with Sandy Denny). The two albums concerned, "Strawbs" and "Dragonfly", are the subject of detailed reviews on their individual pages, there is nothing new or different about the tracks which appear here compared to those originals.

Suffice to say, the music is generally more folk orientated than their later output. There are moments where a the music takes a harder edge, such as the lengthy tale of "The vision of the lady of the lake", which shows the Strawbs starting to venture into prog areas.

A couple of good early albums by the band.

2 stars This is basically the first Strawbs album and the follow up Dragonfly. Marketing hype really but OK if you can't get your hands on the individual albums. Reviews on these albums speak for themselves. No need to repeat them here.
