3 stars Löbo is a Portuguese instrumental post-metal band, you could almost say they are post-rock as the sonic experimentation and spacious atmosphere is more upfront then the metal. Think GYBE, but with more psychedelic effects, a slowed down heavy pace and the sporadic crushing doom metal chord.

With only 4 tracks, the album clocks in at 36 minutes, which is quite short but still preferable to something of twice that length without the ideas to make up for it. Track 1 is an excellent one to sample, featuring their trademark Floydian post-metal sound, very spacious and subtle, but with enough heaviness to please your metal triggers. Track 2 continues the same pace and tone but features synths, sound effects and feedback only. Track 3 and 4 are lush with effects, feedback, Floydian guitar picks and those slow crushing chords again, even with something sounding like a farfisa organ and other synths joining the soundscape.

Very promising debut from this young band that can only be described as post-metal but that still voided all post-metal clichés quite successfully. Recommended. 3.5 stars.
