PROG REVIEWER
5 stars Marillion's two-disc All One Tonight live release captures a magical concert at the Royal Albert Hall, recorded in the wake of the incredible success of FEAR - an album which has grown and grown on me, and which has been received as one of their greatest ever releases. (And why shouldn't it? As well as being about as finely-crafted a piece of progressively-minded music they've ever produced, it's also an absolutely cutting profile of the state of the nation, and a prediction of political nonsense to come which proved to be stunningly accurate.)

Disc 1 is a run-through of the entire album; disc 2 provides a bit of an experiment, with Marillion joined on stage by the In Praise of Folly String Quartet, who add a little classical gravitas to a clutch of Marillion classics (plus a little extract of The Leavers for good measure). Thus, the concert is also a tentative test for what would be attempted on a somewhat grander scale on With Friends From the Orchestra.

Capturing a special show, in special surroundings, with a setlist which manages to be expansive without outstaying its welcome, All One Tonight may be one of the best live releases Marillion have ever put out.
