Review by Warthur
PROG REVIEWER
5 stars The 2021 deluxe edition of Fugazi follows the general pattern set by EMI's deluxe releases of the Marillion back catalogue - remaster and new mix of the album (magnificent, really nicely done, respectful to the material whilst teasing out new nuance), blu-ray with documentary, contemporary videos, and so on, and a full live show.

In this case the live show is a night at the Spectrum in Canada from June 1984. This is the same show which had pieces extracted from it for Real to Reel, but there's enough added here to make releasing the show feel genuinely worthwhile.

Marillion's long-running affection for Montreal is well-documented - they've been back to the Spectrum several times over the years and they dedicated a song to the town on Sounds That Can't Be Made - so hearing one of their first encounters with the city which sowed the seeds of that very special relationship they have with the fans there is great, and the band are absolutely on form. With Ian well-established on drums at this point, they're firing on all cylinders (they knew by this point that if the tour and the live album didn't do well, that'd be it), and they've forged themselves into the tight unit which will go on to make Misplaced Childhood.
