Shell From Oceanic biography
Founded in Oporto, Portugal in 2010

The band were formed in 2010 with Cesar RAMOS (guitar), Claudio FRANK (guitar), Luis CORREIA (bass) and Luis NETTO (drums). They released their first album "Ambivalence" in 2014. This album combines Metal Prog with jazz fusion and electro. After a break, the band released their second album "How To Let Go" June 2018. This album again combines different styles of music going deeper in the electronic music with some brief intrusion of louder passages.

Short, but very good! With solely roundabout 30 minutes running time 'How To Let Go' comes as a condensed non-conceptual album provided by the band SHELL FROM OCEANIC. The crew is consisting of four musicians hailing from Portugal. And they are cultivating their own unique instrumental prog style. While either being a band with heavy rock approach, but also incorporating a somewhat ambient/symphonic feel again and again, this due to the proper use of electronics. Will be served by both guitarists C�sar Ramos and Cl�udio Frank, it does look like, as I couldn't find any credits for key instruments. A synthaxe or similar stuff may be in use particularly.

But at least when listening to Dancing In Circles there's a jazzy organ resp. rhodes piano to state definitely. Anyhow, they know how to let it go most certainly. The result sounds sophisticated and rather unconventional. Crimsonesque leanings all over, post rock guitar walls, ambient patterns, versatile drum and bass playing. Described by the quartet as a loose song collection 'using various approaches and different genres to convey moods' the album sounds completely rounded so much the more. Fabulous starter I'd say! Half an hour preferably in one go, can't get enough of this currently ...
