Adam Certamen Bownik biography
Adam Certamen BOWNIK (born 1972, Lublin, Poland) is a modern, recent and concerned electronic presence, given the inspiration to handle the Berlin orientation with the modern ambiances and trances. He is an assistant adjunct professor (PhD) at the University of Lublin. He already celebrates 10 years of electronic music interest and performance, a passion which came back in the 80s from the music of Marek BILINSKI, TANGERINE DREAM, KLAUS SCHULZE, Jean Michel JARRE and so - artists to which BOWNIK's music orientation is definite and impersonal. Earlier in his career, he played in a obscure "free-move "death metal band called "CERTAMEN".

His discography beholds an intense work, on one hand, and a continuous electronic joy (with all the delights, fuzzes and consequences), on the other hand. The live performances are short and uncalibrated, yet some releases made out a clean break and perspective into the artist performing quick music, or have resembled the best electronic moments, made on stage and in the vice. The entire compendium is brought, partially, to an "unsigned" unravelling credit, but, starting recent times, BOWNIK's music caught interest and "Syng@te" label covers many of his latest music.

Beyond influences, BOWNIK has the vision of two things: an original patch, with all his conformist orientation (into TANGERINE DREAM 80s synthing, or into the new ambiances methods), of sequencing-variations and sound-discovery, and a good synth patch resembling the composition melody, coveting to sounds and techniques that evolve into a music of passion, findings and experiments. The regular inspirations reach nature, Universe, distant worlds, fantastic artificiality and such movements, leading to the elevated hobby of composing, arranging, interfacing and playing (an electronic spirit, modernly improved, decently echoed).

BOWNIK's music, style and perfectible electronic cause evolves, definitely, around an unsure, yet highly stated Berlin School adaptation, arting or reflecting the sequencing panorama into various colors and arrangements. The synth (analogical or dynamic) embrace is an artificial, colorful or dissented power. The more modern nature of the compositions leads either into the trance-techno creativity (for which a couple of bright rhythms and navigations made by Pete NAMLOOK aren't bad as references) and, by occasion and choice, into dub and the perspired hec rhythms, either into a melody of complete artificial emotion. The ne...

Adam Certamen Bownik Progressive Electronic

Prog Reviewer

3 stars Adam Certamen Bownik's "Time Replicated" (great title!), 2001, promoted here in PA as an overlooked and obscure gem of this prog sub-genre. In fact it is well worth the "overlooked" and "gem" namings. The non-stop moods this release proposes keeps one attention hooked and even its weaker sections, (there are some),find a way to better things up with sheer good solutions in creative music composition.

Four, 13 to 20 minutes, tracks conform this album. Each track subtly sub-divided into different electronic shapes and moods. The richness in musical ideas does not stop short but never detouring away from the Berlin school's and Cosmic prog lines. Abundant as its comopositional ideas are its highlights which make the whole deal quiet relevant.

Rating it turns out less enjoyable than listening to it. A 4 full stars seems too much, considering that there are some bumps here and there. On the other hand, overlooking it will seem quiet harsh and a wrong option. Therefore I will use my none downgradable nor upgradable ***3.5 PA stars.

3 stars When I saw the HUGE discography and the lack of any review about this guy, I wonder what kind of music I could expect. Usually this kind of prolific electronic music is really annoying, mostly new age. Adding that Adam is not a professional musicien...

Actually, the music is quite interesting and is an honest sequel to the german electronic school (tangerine dream, schulze), with some Jarre accents. Production quality is really honourable and the listining is not boring. Of course, this kind of music is a bit contemplative, but it's not flat and Adam has a real inspiration.

I cannot understand how it is possible for him to deliver not less than 4 ou 5 albums of this quality per year !

Thanks to Ricochet for the artist addition.
