Peter M. biography
Peter M. is a contemporary experimental electronic solo project from Rome. "Peter M.", is a project name and not a person name, his real name being Alessandro Adriani.
The music can easily be associated to the warm / dark dronescapes of ambient based electronica (Andrew Chalk, Lustmord.), weird "concrete" manipulations and Indus lugubrious manifestations (Maurizio Bianchi). It's also highly inspired by the haunted and scariest ambiences from the 70's/80's "European trash cinema". Peter M. recorded a lot of demo materials and signed on "SelvaElletrica" the album "Underworld Dream" (2005/2006) that is conceptually built "on dreams that we do with the turned on television". Pretty interesting!

4 stars Peter M.'s Underworld Dreams has been one of my favorite albums over the past few months and generally suits whatever mood I'm in, which may seem weird to most people considering what this music consists of. The music here is remarkably bleak and noisy, reminding me of a more electronic sounding Lustmord. Constant drones and arrhythmic pulses make up the flow of this album, and across the buzzing are slightly harsher buzzing noises. The sounds present here would seem like a turn-off to most people, but this is all highly atmospheric and actually sounds like the "music" made by the magnetic fields pulsing off of the planets in our solar system, which is something that I've always found drawing me towards this kind of experimental electronic music. Though not dancy at all, this music is often bass heavy.

I'd recommend this to anyone interested in experimental electronic music of the noisier sort. Anyone a fan of Merzbow's super noisy style would probably find much to enjoy here, although this isn't nearly as harsh by Merzbow's standards. Also, if you've ever played any of the Metroid games, this mostly sounds like soundtrack rejections. Very atmospheric, enjoyable, and highly recommended for anyone who hates knowing of their own existing sanity.

4 stars Peter M is a contemporary experimental electronic-noisy drone project from Italy underground. Originally published in 2005, this album is full of haunted, demonic buzzscapes including a large variety of sounds, tones and noises. slightly reminiscent of Lustmord, SPK (at their most subtle moments), Maurizio Bianchi for the dark immersive parts and to Carpenter & Fabbio Frizzi (without the cheesy jazzy accents) for the Zombi-esque orchestral parts. All tracks feature menacing sonic synth drones, primitive alien sound collages and a few metallic percussions. Believe me the result is absolutely achieved and mindblowing. The opening theme is a fantomatic, spectral and ultimately creepy moving electronic piece. Heart of Light sounds more industrial with deep drone textures and an avalanche of noisy fuzzed out effects (Throbbing Gristle meet concrete music). Red is a dynamic, cinematic gloomy orchestration including collages, and a cavernous, outer space atmosphere. The rest of the album is more reserved to concrete- electro acoustic manipulations (as in the title track) revealing nightmarish, sonic soundscapes. A first & very promising effort. Maybe not for all prog ears but Underworld Dreams remains an impressive album with many ideas and catchy atmospheres.
