Progressive Biography

Born in August of 1988 in St. Louis, Missouri, I still live in the St. Louis area near the small town of Valmeyer, Illinois (about fifteen minutes outside the St. Louis city limits). I am currently working towards a degree in Computer Information Systems (emphasis on programming) with hopes of beefing up a degree in Math.

I can't say that music is a passion of mine, but I really enjoy that sector of the arts along with theatre (different from movies/film). I use my free time to get involved in local community theatre groups' productions, usually as an ensemble member. My favourite types of shows to get involved in are the cabaret types because those don't have ''stars'' per se; everyone gets a fair chance to bask in the spotlight and the shows are usually filled bumper-to-bumper with songs.

As for progressive rock music, I can't really say what stimulated my interest in the genre (probably because I just found out about it one day out of the blue), but I know it's the type of music that I prefer listening to even if heavy metal and Broadway shows are creeping up on me these days. I also have trouble describing why prog pleases me so much other than it triggers something in my brain that makes me happy. I found ProgArchives in 2007 on Yes and Rush binges, joined later in that year and am grateful to be a part of the site.

There's no real scientific process on how I review as most of it comes from the gut. I try not to go overboard on the extreme ends of the ratings to the point where I try not give any more than two five star albums to one artist's library (excluding miraculous outside circumstances). I tend to have an earthier tone in my writing, mostly as a byproduct of where I live/grew up; I'm no English major nor do I have a dictionary or thesaurus handy. Most of all, I enjoy reviewing albums; it's the main feature that attracted me to PA in the first place.
