Progressive Biography

Age: 35 (born 1968)

Interests: Music, Photo, Film, Literature and my family (girlfriend and three kids)

My parents had the radio constantly playing beside my bed when I was a baby back in 1968, and since then the music has followed me through my entire life. The stereo is only resting while I'm sleeping.

At the end of the 70's I listened to Kiss, Nazareth, Sex Pistols, David Bowie, Kraftwerk etc.

At the beginning of the 80's I got into NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) and bands such as Iron Maiden, Tank and Demon, but also a lot of other Heavy Metal bands such as Helloween. I also started my own band called Vivid, who played 80's oriented Heavy Metal. I also listened to some of the harder bands such as Slayer, Kreator, Celtic Frost and Cirith Ungol.

When I was doing the Swedish military service 1987-88, there was a guy at the same regiment that I learned to know. The guy was Stefan Dimle and he would have a lot of influence on my future musical interest. He used to have tapes with him that I lent from him. He introduced me to band such as Culpeper's Orchard, Höst, Captain Beyond, Weed, Toad, Svanfridur, Mayblitz, Yellow, Garybaldi and others. Before that I had only listened to the big progressive rock bands such as Marillion, King Crimson, Yes and Genesis. Now a whole new world was open for me, and I became a real progressive fan. Stefan Dimle later started he's own record store and label Mellotronen, and became the bass player in some of the best Swedish progressive bands through time: Landberk, Morte Macabre and Paatos.

My biggest interest is progressive rock from the 70's, mainly Scandinavian progressive rock, but also Italian and of course British too, but I have progressive rock from the entire world in my collection. In addition to progressive rock I also enjoy country, folk, jazz & jazz-fusion, pop, punk, rock and world.

I am a record collector, with over 3 000 original cds, LPs etc. in my collection. I have contributed reviews to a lot of magazines and websites through the years. Besides my own e-zine "Prog-Reviews" with over 600 subscribers, I have also written reviews for Tarkus Magazine, Arlequins Newsletter, Svenska Dream Theater sällskapet, Stormbringer, Sonitus and Through Different Eyes. I'm glad that I now have my reviews on ProgArchives too. It's a very informative site with many visitors and devoted creators and administrators.

Besides my reviewing I'm working at a computer company and I'm also bass player in a band called Jihås who's playing approximately 60-70 gigs/year. The old heavy metal band Vivid is still alive too, but only occasionally when we have the opportunity and time for it. So as you can see I'm a quite busy man. But I have the great pleasure of doing things I really enjoy! Keep on proggin'!
