Progressive Biography

37, male, Mormon, Democrat, amateur music geek, professional quantitative finance geek. I've written music reviews for my own site (http://www.johnmcferrinmusicreviews.org) since 1999, and I'm slowly copying some of my reviews from that site onto here (with modifications and improvements as I see fit). I love well done 70's prog rock, but I'm as finicky about it as I am about other genres. I love Yes and Genesis and King Crimson and other classic British prog bands, but of my top 20 favorite albums, more than a dozen are either The Beatles, The Stones, The Who or Bob Dylan. I'm maddeningly conservative in my tastes, but I'm constantly inching my way out from my comfort zone, bit by bit.

I've been seriously getting into classical music since early 2008, and jazz since early 2009. I'm not quite at expert level in either of those yet, but give me time and I will be.
